![]() I say this to point out that people who cling to Aperture are probably not going to ever be pleased with Mylio, Lr, C1P, or anything else because they aren't willing to move on. Of course one may prefer Aperture, but that's a different assertion. I can't see what there was in Aperture that isn't replicated in another tool. In fact MORE people with more photos used alternatives. In fact there were even when Aperture was supported by Apple. ? I realize we're discussing Mylio, but there are many many alternatives. The ONLY application which ever cam close (very close in fact) was Aperture. And I am totally, totally overwhelmed by the sheer volume, and the lack of any kind of decent editing tool which would allow me to organise and manage projects, collections, concepts, whatever. That includes at least 50% marked "reject". My Lightroom library has 61,972 images - from over 20 years of photography. I have high hopes for Mylio, but some major reservations. And using hierarchal keywords in sync criteria would make it so much easier to sync the good stuff. Having a scrolling hierarchical list pop up for each element of the displayed pathname of the currently displayed items would make navigation and selection scream. ![]() I think a hierarchy of keywords would easily replace the album structure if the hierarchy could be seen (unlike the flat list of keywords currently in Mylio) and easily traversed like albums or folders can. Keywords provide a 2 way map instead of the albums 1 way map. I find albums difficult to maintain, primarily because I can’t easily answer the question “what albums contain this media file?” (that’s a problem with most any applications’ version of albums, not just Mylio’s). ![]() Handling of nested keywords from Aperture or Lightroom by appending the upper level keywords without any way to sort the list or show the hierarchy in the Search dialog means looking for a needle in a haystack. These Mylio keyword features are at best cumbersome and at worst impossible. Try changing the spelling of a keyword you’ve used frequently or deleting a misspelled keyword or adding an existing keyword to a file or selection that has not used the keyword before. #ALTERNATIVES TO MYLIO PLUS#The logical tools Mylio has are Albums and Calendars plus Events. I would like all of my media contained in logical structures, and that to be my only focus once I’ve imported media. The physical structure provided by the import into folders is something I really want to keep stable, unchanged, independent of the logical structure which is repeatedly changing. David Mantripp's comments are very much to the point for me. ![]() #ALTERNATIVES TO MYLIO ANDROID#There are many very good parts of Mylio (with Mac, iOS, and Android devices I really like the synchronization capabilities) as well as lots of Gotchas, but the lack of good logical structure features is a show stopper for me. I'd like to chime in about the drawbacks in Mylio's physical and logical organizational features. ![]()
